Although only remains remains today Demolished by the British in 1805, its restoration in the 20th century made it possible to make the site accessible and to add a museum retracing the medieval history of the city.
Another important historical site in Catalonia is the church of Sant Roma, built between 1509 and 1522. For art lovers, this architecture, originally in Catalan Gothic style, makes it possible to discover the fusion of different centuries thanks to the addition of lateral chapels of modernist style in the 17th century.
The town of Lloret de Mar, located on the Costa Brava, is known for its many beaches and coves. On the rocks at the end of the beach of Lloret you can admire the Dona Marinera. This bronze sculpture by the architect Ernest Maragali has become a symbol of the old fishing village, where it represents the sorrow of women waiting for their husbands to go to sea. The arrangement of the commune between the sea and the cliffs makes it possible to practice water activities such as kayaking, diving and hiking, with seven circuits along the coast or within local forests.
Last but not least, there are local festivities throughout the year, including the Lloret Festival in July, the Saint-Romain patron festival in November and the Carnival parade in February.
