With its Saint-Nazaire cathedral overlooking the Orb river, its Pont-Vieux and its Paul-Riquet alleys, Béziers marks the French landscape by its picturesque and pleasant character, ideal for a stay under the sign of authenticity and discovery in the heart of the Hérault.

Stroll through its historic centre with urban frescoes, discover its imposing Gothic cathedral and stroll through its sun-drenched squares. You will not be able to miss its famous Paul-Riquet alleys : Bézier's real lung, they are its nerve centre, it is where Bézier lives and breathes, where many celebrations take place during the summer period in particular, as well as a magnificent and very popular flower market. Following the paths, the "Plateau des Poètes" is a bubble of softness and colours, perfect for a bucolic walk. Created under the Second Empire to link the city centre to the station, this English garden has more than 70 different species, decorated with fountains, ramps, doors and busts of the poets who gave their name to this romantic plateau. Discover the 9 locks of Fonseranes and their stairs of water (registered with the World Heritage of UNESCO), and picnic at the edge of the Canal du Midi for moments of relaxation at the soft rhythm of the rustling of water. The latter, inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1996, is the work of Pierre-Paul Riquet from Biterrois. Linking the Garonne to the Thau lake over 245 kilometres, it was once a real asset for the region's economic development. Although it has now lost its past use, it is flourishing thanks to river tourism. The Canal du Midi is a real invitation to serenity and rejuvenating moments and is the perfect place for walking, cycling or barge rides. So, whether you have a boat license or not, you can discover its treasures during excursions along the water, for an afternoon or a day. Avenue Jean Constans is one of the most popular sites in the city : the Arènes de Béziers, also called "Arènes du Plateau de Valras". Built in 1897, they have celebrated bullfighting for hundreds of years and have made Béziers one of the most important bullfighting cities, to the point of inheriting the nickname "French Seville".

As for gastronomy, epicurean travellers will be delighted to learn that Béziers is full of good little gourmet addresses, from the bar to the tea room, including the wine bar, the gourmet restaurant and the friendly brasserie. Don't leave without having tasted the Poutous and the Riquets de Béziers, the Biterroise, seafood and freshly caught fish, a brasucade of mussels, or even without having taken the time for an aperitif in the shade of a tree by the Canal du Midi, a glass of cataroise in your hand. Wine and cycling enthusiasts will be able to visit the wine cellars and vineyards of the region thanks to more than 100 kilometres of signposted circuits through the pine forest, vineyards and wine chateaux of Béziers and its neighbouring towns. We advise you to walk along the paths of "l'Île de Tabarka" (17.5 kilometres), to enjoy the magnificent panoramas of the "Tour des vignobles" (10.5 kilometres) and for the more adventurous, try the loop of the "Balcons de Corneilhan" (18 kilometres), to discover a fortified village with the scents of southern France.

Finally, for the irrepressible desires of diving into the water, head for the neighbouring coastal towns of Agde, Valras-Plage or Vendres. This last one is particularly pleasant for the afternoons of swimming in family, thanks to its 3,5 kilometers of fine sand beach which will know how to charm the amateurs of idleness and relaxation. Along the coast of the seaside resort, many activities for young and old are offered throughout the year : you can dive, pedal boat, paddle, towed buoy, kayak, sailing or enjoy the inflatable games installed facing the Mediterranean.
