Perched at an altitude of 400 metres on the southern slope of the Monts de Vaucluse, Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt is part of the Luberon Regional Natural Park. Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt is the third largest municipality in the Vaucluse region and is a land steeped in history. A land of almonds, lavender, artichokes, wine, vines, olive trees and olive oil, Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt also has one of the largest cherry orchards, which offers spring visitors beautiful landscapes covered with white flowers. Backed by a rock, this historic village is worth a visit, discovering its precious historical treasures. As you stroll through its winding downtown streets, you will be able to observe beautiful old houses decorated with sculpted porches, ornate doors and beautiful windows, including through the rue de la République. The most imposing monument of Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt is certainly its ruined castle: a relic of the medieval past of the town, it is worth a visit. Accessible by a small steep path made of stone calades, this building overlooks the village and the whole of the Pays d'Apt and offers a breathtaking view to its curious visitors. Head towards its ramparts to discover its three fortified walls dating from the 13th, 14th and 16th centuries, which once testified to the size of the early medieval village. During this walk, you will discover many vestiges of these bygone days, doors, square towers, large rooms and beautiful well preserved buildings. The town is also known for its two windmills, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Although there were originally 4 of them, two of them have survived the ravages of time, as have the castle's old keep and its recently renovated castle chapel. From the renovated mill, take the path that climbs through the hills to reach the dam, built at the very end of the 19th century. Formerly a water reserve for the village, it is now used as a fishing pond by the inhabitants of the village. From this dam, you can observe beautiful views of the church bell tower, the ramparts and the old medieval village. From the heights of this village, also accessible through the scrubland, you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the towns of Roussillon, Saignon, Caseneuve, Colorado Provençal, the Alpilles and the Monts de Vaucluse.

Thanks to its proximity to many natural sites, Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt is the perfect place for mountain excursions to discover the richness of the Luberon. From the town, there are many hiking trails to do with family or friends and according to your level, whether you are a great walker at heart or just curious. The "loop of the crests of Saint Saturnin" (19 kilometres), the "path of the Aiguiers" (15 kilometres), the "path of Lavender" (in Sault) or the "loop of the crest of the Cross of Christol and the Colorado de Rustrel" (from Rustrel to 10 kilometres) are among the most beautiful routes around Saint-Saturnin. Note also that the GR6, GR9 and GR92 pass through the town, offering hiking enthusiasts a wide choice of routes.
