In the sumptuous setting of the Alpilles between Arles and Avignon, Saint-Rémy de Provence is one of the most precious jewels of the Bouches-du-Rhône. Saint-Rémy, the neighbouring town of Beaux-de-Provence and Fontvieille, is one of those places where life is good all year round, thanks to a particularly favourable climate and the many possibilities of activities for sporting or relaxing moments in the heart of the Alpilles Regional Natural Park.
Saint-Rémy is one of the musts of Provence, to visit absolutely : its green valleys, its perfumes so evocative of the sweetness of life in the south of France, its old streets full of charm punctuated by superb buildings and the beauty of its landscapes make it an unmissable destination. Stroll through its narrow streets to discover its shaded squares, its old fountains and its restaurants in terrace perfect for moments in the calm of the old stones of Saint-Rémy de Provence. Continue your walk from the Place Jean Jaurès to the gates of the old town, along the magnificent mansions, chapels, convents and houses of the seventeenth century that adorn the streets. Some hotels have been converted into art galleries or museums, but they have not lost any of their beauty. The Hotel de Sade (1 rue du Parage), the Hotel Estrine and the Renaissance Hotel Mistral de Mondragon (which houses the Musée des Alpilles) are three fine examples of guest museums that you can visit. Built on one of the oldest archaeological sites in Europe, the Comptoir de Glanum (3rd century), Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a fascinating city of Art and History. The ruins of this ancient city at the gates of the city are the current witnesses of the rich history of Provence. Bathed in Roman and Greek influences, this ancient Gallic city which sheltered a sacred spring of water is an ideal idea of exit for the holidays in family. Two other monuments dating from this period are visible not far from the site : the Mausoleum of the Antiques and the Arc de Triomphe. Bordered by lavender fields during the summer, the Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery is a masterpiece of Provencal art. Built in a recognizable Romanesque style thanks to its two-storey bell tower surmounted by a pyramidal roof, it is famous for having welcomed the painter Vincent Van Gogh in its bosom at the very end of the 19th century. You will discover its classified cloister, but also the painter's hospital room and a cultural centre.
Depicted many times by writers, poets and painters, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence has inspired many artists over the centuries, notably Vincent Van Gogh. His work would count in all more than 150 paintings around Saint-Rémy de Provence, from its olive groves to its fields of poppies and wheat, without forgetting the famous mountain Saint-Rémy.
In addition to its built and cultural heritage, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is home to many water points. First of all, Lake Peiroou, an artificial lake in the middle of the Alpilles mountains, is the perfect place for refreshing breaks in the heart of cliffs and forests. Also called "le Barrage", it is very appreciated by saint-rémois as well as tourists who come to rest in the shade of trees. The Lac de Barreau is a fishing and walking area located just 4 kilometres from downtown Saint-Rémy : you can fish, or picnic while enjoying its beautiful setting. During hiking or cycling excursions via one of the many hiking trails that cross the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence region, you will certainly come across the Cascades du canal des Alpines, a very popular place for hikers. We also advise you to climb up to Mont Gaussier : if this walk is a little sporty, it is still worth the detour ! From the summit of this mountain, you will have a breathtaking panorama of the Mont Ventoux, the Rhone Valley and the Petit Luberon.
A land of gastronomy and tradition, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence has several olive groves and vineyards that magnificently shape its landscape, but also its flavours. Its very famous oil, as well as its organic wine AOC des Baux de Provence are particularly honored during the weekly market on Wednesday which takes place place place de la mairie and place de la République. Finally, in terms of festivities, the city lives at the rhythm of traditional events throughout the year. You will be able to attend bullfighting celebrations, ferias, the mythical transhumance, concerts and many flea markets, especially during the summer.

Très beau mas en pierre mais extérieurs pas bien entretenus. Manque de propreté dans la cuisine, nous avons du relaver toute la vaisselle, poussière et toiles d'araignées dans le living... Point . . .
